The bond between sisters is one of the strongest forces on this earth. It’s a connection that transcends time and distance, and a love that endures through all of life’s trials.
But when cancer enters the picture, everything changes. Time passes, and the once-vibrant spirit of a sister is replaced by a shadow of her former self…
Heartbreakingly, my beloved sister Shazia, who is 48 years old, has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
She used to reside in Hyderabad…
But due to her condition, she now lives with me in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi.
Initially, she was receiving treatment at Civil Hospital Hyderabad,
But she has now shifted to Liaquat National Hospital in Karachi.
It has been 2 months since she began taking a cocktail of medicines to combat the cancer…
Which has left her completely bedridden.
Seeing her in this state crushes my heart because I can only imagine the agony she must be enduring.
Despite her unbearable pain, she hides it from me, aware that it would hurt me.
She battles through the pain and the fatigue, determined to hold on for just one more day, one more hour, one more minute.
Shazia has always been recognized for her resilience, and now it’s my turn to be strong for her.
My sister is facing a daunting challenge as her large intestine has become obstructed,
Making it almost impossible for her to eat.
She’s been unable to relieve herself for 4 long days,
And the reason for this remains unknown for now;
Although it’s possible that it could be an effect of her cancer.
On March 7th, 2023, my sister had a CT scan of her chest and abdomen to see how her cancer was progressing…
Before she could start chemotherapy at National Medical Institute Karachi,
Her doctors recommended a PEF SCAN to check how deep the cancer was and how far it had spread.
It was a mandatory test she had to take.
In April 2023, Shazia was supposed to start chemotherapy,
But our family couldn’t afford the cost.
We tried everything to gather the funds,
But it was just too much for us to handle.
She needs 4 doses of chemo, each 3 months apart, which is a long and difficult road…
The chemo will cause Shazia to experience different medical conditions,
And we’re all scared about what that will mean for her.
We’re determined to do everything we can to support her, to be there for her every step of the way.
Because when it comes to the bond between sisters, there’s nothing we can’t face together.
I am Mehru, and I come to you today with a plea for help.
Please, join us in this fight and help my sister.
Your contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference.
Your support will not only impact her life but also keep our family together during this trying time.
