I hope this post finds you in good health and high spirits. Today, I come to you with a heavy heart, reaching out on behalf of a son’s love for his mother. My name is Falak Naz, and I am here to share the story of my beloved mother, Karima Haji Mohammad.
Karima Haji Mohammad, a resilient widowed mother of eight, is currently facing an unimaginable battle against bone marrow cancer. After the loss of my father, she became the sole provider and emotional anchor for our family of eight – five daughters and three sons. Life as a widow is undoubtedly challenging, and my mother has carried this burden with unwavering determination.
It all started innocently enough – we thought it was a mere toothache. Concerned, we rushed my mother to the doctor, expecting a routine dental issue. Little did we know that this seemingly ordinary discomfort would spiral into a life-altering journey.
Fate had other plans. The bleeding persisted even after the tooth extraction, leaving us bewildered and terrified. Our worst fears came true when the doctors discovered that her white blood cell count was alarmingly low and she had lost a significant amount of blood due to extensive bleeding.
As a family, we were shaken to our core. Our mother, the anchor of our family, was now grappling with a frightening opponent. My role as the eldest son, working as a driver at the Agha Khan University, meant that my salary could only stretch so far. Desperate to alleviate her suffering, I sought help from the university, and they graciously offered a 50,000 rupee advance. However, the financial burden of her ongoing medical expenses, coupled with my limited income, became an impossible challenge.
We consulted with Dr. Usman Sheikh, a compassionate and dedicated physician who advised continuing her medications for two more weeks until the results of her bone marrow tests were available. The suspicion of bone marrow involvement heightened our anxiety, and we tread this path with fear.
Currently, my mother is in dire need of medications, a lifeline we are struggling to afford. The hospital bills, though significant, have strained our resources, leaving us unable to provide the necessary medications for her recovery. The doctor has outlined a two-week medication plan, after which a more comprehensive treatment strategy will be devised based on the bone marrow results.
As a family, we witnessed the transformation from the vibrant woman who used to light up our home to someone now fighting this dreadful illness. The pain in her eyes speaks volumes, and each passing day seems to carve deeper lines on a face that once held a constant smile. Although her resilience is firm, even the strongest souls need support. This disease has not only taken a physical toll on my mother but has also taken an emotional toll.
I reach out to you not just as a son seeking assistance but as someone who believes in the power of community and compassion. Your support can be the lifeline my mother desperately needs. Every donation, every prayer, and every gesture of kindness will not only contribute to her medical treatment but will also be proof of the strength that comes when a community comes together to uplift one of its own.
I understand that times are tough for everyone. Hence, if you cannot make financial donations, just spreading the word around can do wonders. Please help us make sure that this post reaches all the right people.
Your prayers and support mean the world to us. Let’s come together as a community and extend a helping hand to a mother in her time of need.
